So much of the dahlia world moved online into spaces that could turn sharp — quick to judge, quick to pile on. Dahlia Market is built to be the opposite: a warm, generous corner of the internet where growers lift each other up. This is the spirit we ask everyone to bring, and the standard we hold each other to.
How we treat each other
Lead with kindness
We’re all here because we love the same flower. Be warm. Assume good faith. A little grace goes a long way — especially with someone who’s new.
Generosity over competition
There’s room for every grower here, from a first backyard clump to a full flower farm. Share what you know. Celebrate each other’s blooms instead of guarding the gate.
Welcome newcomers
Everyone started with their first tuber. No question is too basic, no garden too small. Help people in — the way you’d want to have been helped.
Be honest, be fair
Describe your stock truthfully, leave reviews that are real, and trade in good faith. Trust is the whole thing — it’s what makes an open market feel safe.
Disagree gently
Growers will always have different methods and opinions. Share yours without tearing down someone else’s. We’re all still learning.
Not welcome here
To keep this a place people actually want to be, a few things have no home here. These aren’t suggestions — they’re the line.
- ✕Harassment, bullying, or personal attacks — in listings, reviews, messages, or the community.
- ✕Hate speech or discrimination of any kind.
- ✕Scamming, misrepresenting stock, or leaving fake or retaliatory reviews.
- ✕Gatekeeping, pile-ons, or reviving the “dahlia wars” that drove so many of us off other platforms.
- ✕Spam, impersonation, or sharing someone’s private information.
When something goes wrong
Most friction is just a misunderstanding between people who care, and we treat it that way first. If someone crosses a line, tell us — every listing and profile has a way to report, and you can always reach us directly. We read every report and we act.
Repeated or serious violations — harassment, scamming, hate — get people removed. Protecting the people who make this community kind is more important than keeping anyone who won’t be.
